C1 Bonding Adhesive

A friend of mine is putting a front clip on a '59 and would like to know what the group would recommend for the bonding adhesive. In the past he has used urethane but is concerned that it will dry too much before he gets it all in place. The front clip is a nice piece prefabbed from all of the individual press moulded pieces and runs back over the top of the dash and to the doors.
It's definitely alot nicer than the one piece hand laid units that have been available.

The last 5 or 6 car's I have done I used Fiberglass Evercoat. They make SMC or the old stuff called Panel Adesive. Either one works great on the old glass. The last two I did I used the SMC. Good working time, no air pockets or pin holes. You can almost finish off your body work with it. john

I used Bonding Adhesive from Eckler's (10703) for some minor repairs on my '60. Curing time can be regulated a little by closely regulating the amount of hardener you use - you may want to experiment with some scrap pieces before you apply it to the final panels. I'd have the clamps and any other supporting fixtures ready to go quickly because the longest you can expect to 'work' the stuff is 15 - 20 minutes. The stuff does a great job of bonding but it's not good for finishing, may have pinholes. Gotta smear some bondo over it.
