The AIM shows the hood bolted to the hood hinges with just a bolt.....no flat washers...no lock washers. I have bogus Dorman bolts holding the hood now without any washers. It seems to me that at least, a flat washer should be there. It would make hood adjustment easier. Do the original style bolts have a "washer head", or do washers belong under "a normal style" bolt ? Any help and advice will be appreciated. Thank you. Chuck Gongloff

Re: 69 Hood Mounting Bolts
Chuck, Sorry I did not get back to you. The bolts have a washer head with it appears to be a circle in the center. Stop over and take a look when you get home tonight. If you want to match them up, we'll take one of mine off. Dennis- Top

Re: 69 Hood Mounting Bolts
I have an early 69 with BB. Bolts for hinge to hood have an attached flat washer that moves but is not removable and has the letter "E" in center. The bolts for hinge to inner fender are same head marking and are 14 inch longer. My car is Nov.68 build and has 65k hard mile but im sure the bolts are correct.I hope this helps.T.M- Top

Re: 69 Hood Mounting Bolts
Chuck----
The original bolts used for this application were phosphate-coated, indented hex head, with captive flat washers. As a result of the use of bolts with captive flat washers, only a single part number appears in the AIM; the bolts and washers were an assembly.
You might be able to obtain a suitable replacement from Paragon. There also might be a bolt of similar configuration(but not head markings) still available from GM. A lot of the "English" size fastners have been discontinued from the GM parts system in favor of metric, but, when I get a chance, I'll check my references. Unfortunately, I'm going out of town for a couple of days so I won't be able to do it until this weekend. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
