    Windshield Removal

I have installed a new windshield, using a new gasket into my 1965 roadster, and it looks great, except for some optical distortions on the driver side, which were not apparent before installation. Now I must remove the windshield for an exchange.

Is it possible to remove the windshield without destroying the brand new rubber gasket? The mouldings are not installed, and I had not yet sealed the gasket to the glass with urethane sealer. I only laid down a thin bead of sealer between the gasket and the steel frame before installation. I would appreciate any advice on saving that new, $40.00 gasket.

    Thanks in advance.

    Get help

You can probably push it out safely from the inside with help. I think four hands pushing would be much safer than two. However, if the glass brand is Safelite, I'll bet it cracks.

        Got It Out E Z

For those that may be interested, it is an easy, one man (person) job. Don't forget, I DID NOT SEAL THE GLASS TO THE GASKET YET, but even if I did, I don't think it would have made any difference. From inside the car, rolled the gasket lip under the steel frame. Did this all the way across the top, and halfway down the sides. At this point, pushed the glass out the top center (from the inside-out), and out it came. Saved the new gasket-good as new.
