    GM part number

I'm hoping someone, Joe Lucia or another member, can help me in finding either the GM part number or a vendor who would supply the front parking/turn signal lamp wire extension set for a 1972 Corvette. I've tried Dr Rebuild, Corvette Central and many others with no luck. Zip has them on backorder, but I was hoping I could get them sooner than 4 to 6 weeks. Any help would be appreciated.

If I recall correctly, for the 70+ style parking lamp, the lamp socket was integral with the wire extension. If this is what you're after, then I THINK that the current part number may be GM #8914822 which is still available from GM.

I THINK that the side marker lamp extension wire was also integral with the socket for that lamp. If so, the current GM part number MAY be GM #8901283 which is also still available. However, I'm NOT certain of this; I'll have to confirm this later.

Otherwise, if neither of the above are are correct, then there is no currently available GM part to SERVICE your application. In that case, I'd get in contact with M&H Electrical Fabricators of Santa Fe Springs, CA (www.wiringharness.com). If they cannot supply the part you need in reproduction, then I don't think that anyone will be able to.

            Joe:
The part I'm looking for has the pigtail on one end that plugs into the wiring harnass and the other end has the socket for the bulb that connects into the lamp assembly. What I am unclear on is the part number you mentioned may contain the socket that plugs into the lamp assembly but the other end is just bare wires without the plug for the wiring harnass. Do you know if this is true? Thanks, I appreciate your help.

I did a little more research on this one. The original wire extension, with "plug" on one end and lamp socket on the other was GM #8901617. That part was discontinued and replaced by the GM #8914822. That part should also have the "plug" and lamp socket on the ends. In any event, it's the only part currently available from GM for the application you're after.

The other part that I mentioned in my previous post is, apparently, not applicable to your car, so forget that one.

Although the GM #8914822 is currently still available from GM, I expect that's the one that Zip sells. So, if Zip has these things on 4-6 week back-order, that may be a "clue" that there is a back-order from GM. But, you can check with your local dealer on this.
