My wife and i just finished installing a ball joins, tie rods, idler arm. You should get a alignment after doing front end work as a general rule. i called up a few places and they want 50 bucks. Ntb wants 50 for a regular car and 85 for a 72 corvette. They said corvette's alignment are complicated. Exactley what do the have to adjust on a 72 corvette? I thought it was just the tie rod sleeve asembly. It dos'nt look to complicated to me. Just wondering. Thanks for the help in advance. Eric

Re: 72 ALIGNMENT
Eric,
The increased alignment charges for Corvettes is normally a result of the rearend of the car also requiring alignment (toe-in & camber settings). Many "4-wheel" or thrust alignments routinely cost in the neighborhood of $100.
It does get worse...if you are fortunate enough to have a mid-year without the slotted trailing arm shims, some alignment shops will not touch them, or will only provide you with an hourly flat rate, not a fixed cost for the alignment job.
Good luck,

The front end is NBD on a Corvette. Just like a regular chevy. But they also have to do toe, and caster/camber. The cars are tight to work on which just makes it more time consuming and therefore more expensive.... The rear is what really drives the cost up -- the toe particularly because of how it is put together. It is tough to do unless you do it all the time.
Mine was really bad and I was charged a flat rate to align it. 100.00 seems pretty darn good compared with what I paid to have mine done.
It is wonderful when it is right though!
