'56 Speedo Cable

I recently purchased a repro speedometer cable for my '56. It is silver in color. I have noticed that the NOS ones are black. Is there anything I can do to the cable to make it look,at least, somewhat close to original? Thanks.

I am not sure about the '56, but when I had my '57 flight judged, I had a deduction because my speedo cable was black and not silver.

Steve,
Cable sheath is zinc or cad plated (silver looking) Identical in appearance to the genertator tach cable sheath. Regards
