I have just cleaned up my drive shaft and half shafts. I can see where there were part numbers on the drive shaft however I don't see any clean area where a band of paint would have been applied. Also, the half shafts don't have any areas indicating where two bands of paint (green & orange) would be. I've see these marks on a friend's 68 BB. There appears to be lines (1/4" thick)that were made on the half shafts possibly by a paint pen. My question is, what are the type and location of the paint markings on the drive shaft and half shaft? My car is a 68 BB with a 10/25/67 build date.
I just had my 69 rear apart and both half shafts and the drive shaft have green and or orange stripes on them. If you really want to know I will check them for you and give you the dimensions. Tomorrow after work!

If you can, I would like to know what the markings look like. I believe they represent the outer end of the half shaft. Also, do you have any markings on the drive shaft?

Larry - I'd love to know what the markings looked like too. I'll be starting to reassemble the rear drivetrain and suspension in another few weeks on my '70. If you need someone to post pictures for you, give me a holler. Thanks. ~Juliet
