    63 head light assembly

I removed, cleaned and lubricated (including the gears) the assemblies and reinstalled. Now, the motors run only in one direction and will not reverse. The switches are in place. What obvious rookie mistake have I made ?

There is one thing I know of which could cause this problem. When the motor turns it will rotate an aluminum gear which rotates the headlights. This aluminum gear can wear. When worn, the motor will turn but the headlights will not. It usually only wears in one spot. If you rotate it 180 degrees that should correct it. Or of coarse you could replace the gear.

Try this. Bump your switch in the direction that they will work. Watch the amp gauge. Bump the switch in the other direction. Does the guage deflect like it did before. This will tell you if it is electrical or mechanical.
