    65 Distributer Rebuild

The tach drive gear ate the driven gear. Distributer is now disassembled and clean on bench. If I buy all the parts from Dr. Rebuild is this a simple re-install and go or do I need critical shims and proper clearance values?
There was no bronze thrust button or shim in this area as depicted by the diagram in the catalog. I assume there should have been for my 327/300?
What lubricant should I use when re-assembling? Grease or lithium white grease? Should I send it out to be re-built by a pro? If so, who is the "ptofessional of choice"? Cost estimates? Other hints?
    Thanks.

Normally when this happens, there is damage to the distributor housing in the form of a depression in the area od the housing that the gear runs against (toward the front of the engine in distributor installed position) If this is present, it must be addressed of you will simply destroy another set of gears and shafts. There are several threads in the archives discussing how to approach this. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you might think about sending it to someone more familiar with these distributors.
