    Re: car rotisserie

Problem with rotisserie is it expects the body to be rigid. They work GREAT for metal body cars, but I've not seen them used on Corvette.

One of our chapter members built a body jig that gives the same results and it works like a hose. Concept is traditional floor frame on wheels that the body sits on and bolts to at conventional frame mounting plates. Now the 'cute' innovation....

At fore/aft positions on both sides of the std floor frame, he welded rectangular boxes about 4-inches long providing each with a through-hole to insert a slide pin. Then, he two L-shaped arms out of rectangular stock and put wheels on the long side of the L.

You insert the arms into the rectangular boxes on the bottom of the conventional floor frame and drop in slide pins to hold the L-extensions in place. Now, simply lift and tilt the floor frame on its side and the wheels on the L-extentions grab the floor holding the body in a firm sideway position.

Want to work on the other side? Pull the L-extension arms, walk to the other side of the floor frame, slide 'em in, pin 'em in place and tip the car the opposite way. It works GREAT!

Any chance we could get a picture or diagram? Sounds like something I would like to build. If you have no way to post a picture, Email it and I will post it for you. Shane

At the Texas chapter website WWW.ncrstexas.org click the button for the Austin/San Antonio chapter. The main page has a picture of a rotisserie made for Corvettes. I sent an e-mail inquiring about it, but didn't get a reply. If anyone has any info on this one, it would be an interesting post.
