    Vacuum can replate

    Hi

I want to get the vacuum actuator can for the wiper door in my 69 replated correctly. Anyone had this done by a reputable co. If so please let me know.

    Thanks Steve

    Re: Vacuum can replate

Hi Steve; Not sure who can replate these, but I recently saw the canister for sale in the Paragon Catalog......about $230.00. This was the "early" style canister that looks like a can, not the later 69-up style that looks like 2 pie plates welded together. Hope this helps. Chuck Gongloff

Steve, I think I have one.-On a spare car. Looks like two pie cans. Does any body know if the replating process effects the internals of the canisters for the wiperdoor and the headlights??

        Chester,

That's a late 69 to 72 style. I have my original early 69 style and I've been told that replating ruins the internals. I had an email from Jack Humphrey detailing how to get it done. Perhaps I can forward the info to you if I can figure out how to do it!.

          Re: Vacuum can replate

About four years ago I had my Rochester carb restored by Dave's Corvette Restoration in Clear Lake City, TX (near Houston). I believe he also restores these vacuum canisters as well as carburetors, distributors, and shifters, etc. His address was 1610 Richvale Lane and zip was 77062. I have an old phone number which may work but I think the area code has changed from 713 to 281: 281-488-7813. I think he would be willing to tell you a bit more about the process he goes through in a typical restoration of vacuum canisters. Hope this helps.

            Steve:

Call David Resheske, in Clear Lake City, Texas. He has been restoring vacuum and headlamp actuators for years and does an excellent job. Perhaps you might have seen his table at Bloomington. Sorry, but I don't have his telephone number but you can get it from directory assistance.

            Hope this helps!
