I am a new owner of a resored 66 Big Block. After running on the road at a temperature around 200 degrees when I shut the engine off I get fluid coming out the bypass hose. I know they run hot but is this normal? I lose about a pint of fluid.

Re: Radiator bypass
Only normal if it has been overfilled. Ther should be a "Fill Cold" line on the side tank of the radiator below the pressure cap. Fill to that level and the fluid is left with space for expansion. The fluid in the cooling system will normally gain some tempeature for a time when the engine has been shut off after a run. Without this expansion space left in the Radiator, coolant will be pushed out of the cap and into the overflow, this assumes your cap is correct and in good condition. So check your cold coolant level and start from there.- Top

Re: Radiator bypass
Along with what Bill mentioned I would watch your fan clutch,as your guage may be off a bit and the car may be running a little hotter than you think.Along with that, all the normal other stuff to check, thermostat, lower hose collapse etc.etc............Bill S- Top
