    Re: Leather??

I personally have never done it. I have had cars in my shop with it done and to be honest... Very poor at best. To shiney or it cracks. Basically made it look worse than it was prior to dye being applied to it. Being as a seat in a high impact area in your car I would really think twice before proceeding. Door panels, head liners, dash etc.. no problem but then again they are vinyl anyway.

Corvette America has a great product and it works well. It has it's own etching compoud in the spray. It will work eqally well on leather. Just make sure body oils are removed either with alcohol or laquer thinner rag. Have never had a problem but was very skeptical at first, am now sold.

            Not for seats ?

            Ron

Was your comment that vinyl dye doesn't work well on just leather seats, or were you also saying that it doesn't work on vinyl seats either, because of the rubbing and flexing that the seats are subjected to ?

                Re: Not for seats ?

I dyed the beige interior black in a 65 years ago, including the seats. I drove the car daily for a couple of years afterwards and do not recall having any problems with the dye coming off. If there were any spots that wore, it was a quick and simple touch up.

                    addendum

I AM refering only to vinyl here. I personally would not attempt to dye leather with vinyl dye unless the seats were something I were going to junk anyway.

                        Re: Not for seats ?

Thanks, that's good to know. My seats are vinyl, and could use some freshening up.
