Mike: I went out and measured my car using the following procedure: with a small carpenters square grounded on the sloping part of the floor (carpet and padding removed) to the top of the rubber part of the pedal I got 7 3/4". Using the same measuring method I found that the pedal travel was about two inches while using both hands to push the pedal as hard as I could. I know that this is not a scientific method of measuring but it is about as good as I could do. Incidentally, this was done on a 62. Good luck on re-engineering your firewall.

Re: 58-62 brake pedal measurements
Perfect! So if the brake pedal moves that little, this job will be easier. I've already made the firewall extension out of fiberglass, but my problem was that if the pedal needed the entire throw length, I'd have to make some addititional firewall cuts for the ARM holding the pedal. Because of the angles for the pedal to be at correct heights. Well, it's hard to explain, but if I ever finish, I'll post some pictures (on another site)! I appreciate the help! Thanks Butch!
