I believe you have a shifter which is a Hurst lower unit with the top shifter handle designed to look like the original shifter for the muncie transmission. The overwhelming "clue" is your statement that you took the shifter handle off with two 3/8" screws. Original shifters are one piece units. You don't take the top off because it is all one solid piece of steel. This unit has no actual working lock out feature. The t-handle operates nothing. Now look in one of the after market mags and find these for sale with pics. Now move to the Hurst folks for help on adjusting this shifter. It will probably require placing the shifter in N and disconnecting the lower shifting rods and adjusting them. This may require a "key" to be placed in a hole in the shifter unit to assure proper alignment of the lower shifter rods.
