Have removed all the bolts on top. How many rivets are there that need to be removed and can they be replaced with bolts or will rivets need to be reinstalled? Thanks.

Re: 64 coupe dash removal
Robert, If you are referring to the Dash pad (upside down U), then the removal requires the removal of 10 to 12 clips which hold it in place. These clips are like mini scissors, in that you expand them apart to open the expanded part in the dash. If you are careful you can reuse them. If not they are available at the reproduction dealers. I believe the total for both pads is 24 clips. Be sure to get the two or three that are in the center panel for the radio and heater controls.- Top

Re: 64 coupe dash removal
--------But Robert,if you are talking about the whole dash assembly you do have to drill out the rivets and they do have to be replaced! As well, the center of the dash below the radio is glued to a molded bump in the trans hump. You will have to break this bond(not as difficult as it sounds)to remove the whole assembly.Usually you can gently twist the dash back and forth close to where the bond is and it will pop loose.Remember to be careful with this step.Reverse this when you reassemble with some sort of bonding agent. You can drill a small hole thru both dash and bump below the line of the console(so as to be hidden) and run a sheet metal screw thru there to facilitate the bonding agent setting up.Failure to bond this area will give you a very loose dash assembly that will,no doubt, rattle.Hope this helps..........Bill S- Top
