    Purple/Brownwith white stripe dash wires

The dash is apart on a 1970 convert. There is a purple (big) and a brown with white stripe wire undre the driver's side dash. the are together with a terminal. What should this attach to. My wiring diagram doesn't show an end point.

Jeff, I'm going to give this a recall from memory as a shop manual is not available presently. I believe what you are looking at is clutch pedal detent wiring. It's a safety lock out switch much like a neutral safety switch with an automatic car. The clutch pedal has to be depressed and this switch completes the circuit to the ignition so the car will start. What I don't recall is whether there is only one harness for both cars. Is your car automatic or stick? If it's automatic and you neutral safety switch is hooked up that's the answer (there is only one harness for both applications) and this one connection will just hang there not hooked up to anything. If you have a manual transmission car then you will find the switch at the top of the clutch pedal area.

There is one harness, with parallel circuits for both the manual clutch switch and the automatic neutral safety switch, and connectors in both locations; solenoid energize power goes through whichever of the two pigtails is connected to a switch, and the other one just sits there (the clutch switch pigtail on an automatic car is supposed to be taped back to the main harness).
