    top surround r&r

I've been told there's no reason to replace the surround bonding strip on my 70 when I replace the damaged steel beam. Seems there are adhesives that make rivting the beam/ bonding strip unnecessary. Just glue the beam to the underside of the fiberglass. Or do I go the rivited route with the bonding strip?

That decision is up to you. If you want it to be as original then it would need to be rivited. If you dont care and just want it installed, then epoxy or some urothane bonding materials will do just fine. Later poduction cars and later over the parts counter units were installed without the bonding strip.
