    Shock p/n Clarification... Joe?

I the past few months several posts have asked about mid year shocks. I have seen two different part numbers (for both front and rear) for the shocks in these threads. The rear is either 22011967 or 22065207 and the front is either 22046803 or 22065208. I assume that one is gas and the other is not. Both p/n appear to be available on GMparts direct.com but there is no detailed description. I am more interested in original configuration than performance. Which one most resembles the original (standard, not F40). I know the tube diameter for the original rear is 1.64" on the lower section.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob-----

GM #22065207 and GM #22065208 (Delco 560-51 and 560-50, respectively) are the Delco Reactec, gas-charged shock absorbers. Except for "numbers", labels, and paint, they are configured just like the original shocks.

GM #22046803 is the current SERVICE replacement for the 63-82 PRODUCTION front shock absorber (actually, this part replaces both the standard and F-41 front shock). It may or may not be gas-charged. I believe that it's configuration is the same as the above-referenced Reactec shocks and the same as the original shocks, except for "numbers" and color. This shock should have no labels.

GM #22011967 is the current SERVICE replacement for the 63-82 standard suspension, PRODUCTION rear shock absorber. It may or may not be gas charged. It's configuration is the same as the Reactec shocks and the same as the original shocks, except for "numbers" and color.

The choice is yours. Which would I recommend? The Reactecs mentioned in the first paragraph.

        Ron & Joe -
I agree, the part numbers are confusing. I trusted my parts guy at the local Chevy dealer with Reactek #22046803 front and Reactek 22011967 rear. The numbers are on Joe's list. The rear shocks were installed last spring to replace air shocks. They performed well with bias ply tires. The front shocks are still on the bench. The number stamped on the front shock is 4984577, this is followed by 154 98 PLIACELL. I will install them this spring with radial tires.

        Have Fun,
        Mark #35760

            Mark----

The part numbers on the shocks are almost always different from the part number on the box. That's because the part number on the box is the number for the shock absorber + the other hardware/instructions in the box.

It's interesting to note that the GM SERVICE shocks have the word "pliacell" embossed upon them. The original shocks used on the cars said this, too. The Reactecs that I described by GM and Delco part number in my last post, don't have that word embossed upon them.
