About a year ago I bought my 1st Corvette, It is a 1970 roadster, the guy I bought the car from put a TPI engine in it, (he did a really good job) the factory engine was part of the deal, I have it, or I have what I think is the original engine. My question is , Is there a way to tell, from the serial #s on the engine block & the VIN # if it is really the original engine or not ? Any Help Is Welcome THANKS . VINCE..

Assuming that the block is not a re-stamp (which is very unlikely in this case), it's very easy to tell if the engine was the one originally installed in your car. Simply check the engine stamp pad in front of the right side cylinder head. The last 8 characters, or so, of the VIN number of your car (found on the driver side window pillar under the windshield glass) should be found stamped into the engine pad.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
