Rear deck plenum drains '70 Convertible

What is the original factory finish of the rear deck plenum drains on a 1970 Corvertible? I'm asking about the little things on the back side of the rear wall of storage area, affixed with funky aluminum rivets, visible from under the car just in front of the gas tank on either side of the car. Mine are so rusted with no evidence of any paint I'm guessing they were bare metal, but I thought I'd look for some confirmation. Thanks, ~Juliet

    Juliet----

No, they were not plain steel. They were black phosphate-finished. However, this finish, when exposed to the elements, and especially road salt-laced elements, will "disappear" and a coating of rust appear.
