Someone was asking about this a week or so ago. I don't recall whom and at the time I didn't have a digital picture. I just took this photo today of the tag on the bottom of my '70 seat. I'm guessing that the last portion of it is a julian date code 0370 = the 037th day of 1970, which works for my B18 (Feb 18) build date convertible. Can anyone confirm this or decode the rest? My interior is 411, Bright Blue Vinyl. ~Juliet

Juliet-----
The 7 digit part number beginning with "397" is the part number for the seat bottom frame assembly. I think that the other series is a manufacturer's ID, but I don't know what it decodes to.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Juliet,
Just a guess, but I wonder if LSI stands for Lear-Siegler Inc or Lear Seating Inc. I have no idea which name they went by at the time, as they've split now and BOTH currently exist. Just a thought, as Lear is/has been a large automotive seat supplier, but my knowledge doesn't go back far enough to know if they were THE Corvette seat supplier in 1970. Maybe John Hinckley knows what they were dong back then.

I draw a blank on this one - never paid any attention to seats in those days; your Lear-Siegler thought makes sense to me. A lot of seat/trim stuff came from Findlay Industries for C1/C2, but I don't know who supplied seats for C3's.- Top
