'79 white film on lower edge of windshield

My '79 has started developing a white film on the lower edge of the windshield, inside. It is removable with cleaning...but I need to figure out what is causing it, so I can fix whatever??? Hopefully!

I hope I'm wrong, but it sort of sounds like the glass may be delaminating.

If you can clean it off I'd rule out delamination. I'd guess you have a moisture issue either from getting in around the windshield and/or the windshield frame but most likely an antifreeze leak ( heater ).

I misread your post. If it will come off, it is definately not delamination.
