    Dated 3124 Carb

My 65 396 is a late build car #22212. I am searching for a correctly dated Holley 3124 carb. My question is what date would be too early. I have managed to locate one coded 5 3 2 which I assume is 1965 March 2nd week. The block casting date on my car is E275, the starter 5F1 and so on. Would a carb dated in March be OK or should I keep searching?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Re: Dated 3124 Carb --- My 2 cents

Chris --- I believe there are some 553's on legit production; back that up by 2 weeks due to your VIN (versus end of model year) and I would optimally be looking for a 551. Now there was a lot of scatter in that period, so I would shoot for a +/- 2 week range of 543 to 553, assuming that these carbs were produced every week and not batched.

I think that date would work .Your car was close to the end of build they would be using what they had .If it is a "real" 3124 with the correct bowls I wouldnt pass it up . you can always trade .Be careful there are alot of restamps out there.16120 cast C15 T0405 had a 533 on it. Bill
