Hello again, I'm slowly piecing together the front of my 61 and am in conflict. Some say there should be at least 1, maybe 2 front end backing plate "gaskets" used. One directly in contact with the backing plate, the other between the steering knuckle/spacers and the front spindle. I know CC sells them, but someone told me these weren't "factory" but something added for a quieter ride. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron 61 project

Re: 61 front suspension
Ron: Concur with Bill. All I can offer at this time, is that when I did my 62 front end, I don't remember any such references to your gaskets, either in the Service Manual, AIM or the 61 Passenger Car service manual. I'll review those again tonight and if I find anything I'll come back if no one else has. It would not surprise me at all to see such a reference someplace. There is no end to the surprises that pop up in this hobby! It's a never ending learning process. Dick- Top
