black vent knob balls for non a/c 70-71?

    black vent knob balls for non a/c 70-71?

    Anybody know where i can find the vent knob balls on non A/C cars the repros and current GM parts have a textured back and a matte finish, the originals are smooth and shiny. I have one that can be used but would like a pair. I have been looking for 3 years with no luck. any ideas?????

    I'm afraid that used knobs are going to be your only avenue, at the moment. The original 69-71 vent knobs were GM #3958728. These knobs were discontinued in May, 1972 and replaced for 69-71 SERVICE by the 72-76 PRODUCTION knobs, GM #3995093. As far as I know, no one is currently reproducing th original-style knobs. Seems like it would be simple enough, but, so far, no one has "stepped up to the plate".

        EBAY. I don't have any more "sets", but within the past year, I've sold 3 sets of the original knobs on EBAY. Check there. As Joe said, another good source is going to be flea markets/swap meets. Chuck
