Correct Spark Plug for '65 327/300

What is the correct currently available spark plug for a 327/300 engine.
The previous owner of my car had R43 plugs. I looked at a couple of posts in the archive that say these are more "race" type. I pulled the plugs and they are somewhat fouled.

What are acceptable plug wires? The car currently has Accel 8mm wires. I noticed some cracking on a couple of the boots when I removed the exhaust manifolds so I need to replace them. Originality is not a concern, the car is a driver that will see mostly city driving and some highway cruising.

    Thanks

The non-resistor AC45 (one heat range hotter than the OEM AC 44)is a better all-around plug for all engine options, but they are no longer available, and it's substitute is the AC R45, which is a resistor plug.

You can buy proper non-resistor plugs from NGK or Denso - B4 and W14-U respectively. These are equivalent to the AC45

The OEM AC 44s are really a bit too cold for normal driving, so one heat range hotter is best.

I used the AC43 in my SHP engine during race track hot lap sessions, and it was about right for sustained high output, but would foul rapidly in normal street driving.

As far as plug wires are concerned I would recommend that you go with the OEM diamter as larger wires will not fit the looms. Also if you don't use RFI type wires your radio will buzz even if you have all the shielding in place.

What is the proper Diameter wire for this application?

As far as RFI wires are concerned, is that noted on the packaging or wires? Are most standard wires RFI?

        Thanks for the info,

I keep finding out more and more that will help my car run better.

I don't know what the diameter is of the OEM wires. Back then wires weren't refered to by diameter as they are today.

Assuming all your looms are in place you could just order a replacement set of wires for your car from a variety of sources. Most wires are EMI/RFI type and they should so state on the wires themselves. If you buy OEM equivlent wires they will be compliant.

I think you can use the 7mm wires with those stock looms. Avoid the solid core copper racing off-road type wires as they can cause electrical interfearance.

                -Mark.
