    1970 carburetor date codes

My engine was assembled on March 02, the body build tag is March 17.
Is the carb installed at engine assembly or at some point on the assembly line?

What would be the acceptable time range for the carburetor date code on this engine?
The carb is a Holley 4555 (yes it's an LT-1)
    Thanks, Greg

    Greg----

Carburetors were installed at the vehicle assembly plants. NCRS and NCCB allow a 6 month "window" prior to build date of the car.

        Joe ...One more question.

In your opinion would a carb dated the first week of March have time to get from Holley to St. Louis assembly plant and be installed on a car with a trim tag dated March 17

For a carburetor, the time frame is a little tight, but it's very possible. At that time, Holley carburetors were made in Flint, MI.
