    changing differential fluid.

How do I change the fluid in my differential? I see one plug on the rear right side with a positraction tag. Do I pump it out, or is there another plug somewhere else? Thanks for the help.

You have to Take the plug out. And then you pump the fluid out.
If you go to the dealer to get the new fluid It comes with a long plaste
hose that you fill it back up with.

        Eric -

You'll need a "suction gun" to get the old fluid out through the fill plug hole - most auto parts stores have them. Good time to do the same thing to your transmission if you have a 4-speed - almost nobody ever changes that lube, and it's probably been a long time since it was last done, if it was ever done.

Eric, Is there a plug at the bottom of the diff?

                Eric,

You did not mention what year you had but my 63, 60, 61 all had drain plugs at the bottom of the diff. All of my trans also have drain plugs.

Re: Eric, Is there a plug at the bottom of the dif

No, I do not see a plug at the bottom. The only one I can seem to see is the one on the back. I guess I will have to pump it out. I am a little unsure about drilling and tapping a hole anywhere else.

                    Thanks,

                    Eric

Before draining any transmission or differential out the bottom plug, first make sure that the top or fill plug will come undone. Don't want to drain the thing and then find out you can't fill it.

... which is exactly what happened to me. I opened the drain plug, then couldn't get enough grip or leverage on the filler plug when laying under the car (on jackstands). Finally got it off after pulling the rear end (which was needed anyway, but the plug problem put me over the top). With easy access, it took an 18" pipe wrench to break it loose.
