Regarding a May ' 68 build date on a L71 motor ( without expansion tank ) I read in the VetteVues Fact book that M.F. Dobbins states this motor requires a RC 15 radiator cap. However, I have been advised otherwise that RC 26 is correct..?? Can anyone comment..?? Thank you, Jeff Burkey

Re: RC 15 or RC 26...???
Jeff-----
The RC-15 is the correct radiator cap for your application. The RC-26 is a special radiator cap for use on aluminum radiators or aluminum supply tanks. It is designed to insulate the steel/stainless steel of the outer cap material from the aluminum tank. Doing so prevents galvanic corrosion. The insulator is not necessary on brass radiators since the electro-negativity difference between brass and the outer steel cap does not create much galvanic corrosion potential. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
