Before I order a reproduction rear choke housing base for my Carter AFB I'd like to ask if anyone has had success rebuiling one. About 2 years ago I noticed a "butterfly" was not able to close on cold starts due to the choke piston hanging up in the housing cylinder. I removed it, pulled the piston and cleaned it completly. For a few weeks this worked but I feel the tolerances are off on the cylinder wall and piston. If I purchase a new unit will it look like the original or will I lose too many points during NCRS judging meets? Thanks for the help.

Re: 62 Choke Housing
remove the aluminum end cap from the end of the choke cly with air pressure and clean and polish the bore smooth. put the end cap back with a small amount sealer. make sure your tube in the exhaust manifold is not burnt through and allowing carbon into the choke housing.- Top
