    Replacement part alert

After reading the recent thread on the proper color of white for the w-washer (mid year) rebuild kit, I anxiously awaited the recently ordered package from Dr. Rebuild. To my surprise the kit was black plastic and had the nipples exiting at a right angle as opposed to straight. I was told by the supplier that this is the service replacement from ACDelco and it was all they had. Never mind that the catalog describes the correct white parts. So, be sure to check with your supplier for the desired configuration.

I was also disappointed in the washer pump mounting screws and the "u" clips for my fuel door bezel. Both were substantially different from the original parts.

Any suggestions at to a source of supply for a white rebuild kit?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob------

Black is the color of all of the current AC-Delco replacement plastic parts for the washer pumps. If only AC-Delco and GM had used these from the start, we wouldn't have to worry about the yellowing and other fine nuances of washer pump coloration today. But, they didn't.

The white valve assemblies can be found in the "Help!" or Motormite section of your local auto parts store. However, the white coloration is not as original and, for 68+ pumps, will evidence a sharp contrast between the new valve and the existing, yellowed piston assembly.

The piston assemblies last available from AC-Delco were black, but these are no longer available from AC-Delco (or anyone else, as far as I know). You can purchase the complete pump assembly from AC-Delco. These include a black piston and black valve assembly.

One option is to remove the rubber valves from your new black prize and swap them into your original parts, same with the three-ring gasket, works like a charm
