    1961 Fan Shroud

I purchased a 1961 GM NOS (?) fan shroud from a Driveline add. The shroud came with a GM sticker. The lower two-peice section fit very well. The upper section aligns and fits well with the lower two sections. The problem is that the holes used to mount the upper shroud to the radiator support assembly do not line up. Is this a common problem with after market shrouds, or was I sold the wrong shroud?

    Thanks! Ray

I had the fan shroud off a 61 a couple of years back and don't remember any significant dificulty in aligning holes. How far out of alignment are they. Are you installing all the bolts before tightening any of them?

I had the same problem with an original shroud I purchased for my 61. What I found was I had to add shims to the front body mount to raise the radiator support, since the shroud bolts to the chassis, I could not lower the shroud, so I raised the nose and the shroud fit perfect. It has been over a year and I have experienced no problems.

The fan shroud holes are approximatly 1/2" higher than the radiator mounting bracket holes. The bottom bracket seems to fit fine and is in the correct location.

            Thanks for any help!
