    BFGoodrich Silvertown Radials for C1

I'm thinking of equipping my 1959 with P215/70R15 BFGoodrich Silvertown Wide White Radials mounted on the original 15x5 steel wheels so as to be able to use my hubcaps.

Has anyone had experience with this specific make/model and size of tire on a C1? I know the topic has been discussed, but I'm looking for comments from users of this combo.

    Thanks,

    Don Walker

Don, I just bought the same set of tires from Coker to mount on my C1 and they work fine. I have an extra set of welded 15x5.5 and I put the tires on them. The hub cap says put just like it's supposed to. Good Luck.

        Craig,

I didn't understand your message. Did you mount the 215/70's on 5.5" wheels or 5" wheels?

The 215/70's are supposedly rated for 5.5" but not the smaller 5" wheels. Based on this info, I was going to change my selection to the 205/75's from COKER. The BFG Silvertowns are not available in the 205/75 size. I was wondering if there is information regarding any performance differential between the R rated COKER 205/75 and the higher speed rated Silvertowns.

I'm not going to run her at outrageous speeds. I simply want the best tire available in a radial with a white wall about 2-3/8" to fit my 5" wheels and original bodied 59.

            Don,
Sorry about the confusion. I mounted a new set of 215/70R/15 BF Goodwrich Silvertown Radials on my original 61 welded wheels. They are the 15x5.5 size. I haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary. Radial tires will certainly improve the driving of your car. I do hope this helps. I can't offer any performance data.
            Cheers,
            Craig

                Craig -

You indicated your '61 had 5-1/2" wheels (which didn't have the "nubs" on them to retain the full wheel covers) - are you using hubcaps or full wheel covers?

                    John,
Now you have me thinking. They were on my 61 and I only assumed they were the original ones. They do have the nubs. I am using the full hubcaps. Thanks for asking.
