    72 ORIGINALITY

    Hello, I have a 1972 ls5 454/400 turbo. It has an ecklers ( original gm tooling )
front end because the previous owner hit the front end about 3 inch's from the front middle bumber. He decided to get a one piece front but the hood and everything else is original. The car has the original motor, tranny, manifold, carb , interior and everything else. It has 71,000 orginal miles on it and i am the 4th owner. The bottom of the tank sticker is unreadabl though. The frame is spotless. how much would it take away from the value of the car? Should i not worry about orginality at this point?

If everything BUT that front-end is correct then I might consider fixing it with original GM panels. The one pieces are nice, cheap, and show well for a driver. But if you want to get the most out of the car, flight judge it, and not take the deductions for laid panels, you will likely want to go back to stock. It all depends on what you want to do with the car though (and how much money you have to spend :-).

Generally, if the paint is good, and it is working correctly, I would wait until such point that you need to fix it. But that is me and my experience with Vettes. Every time I go one place, I find several hundred other things I have to fix :-)
