Re: 61 vette
Artie,
I think that topic has been discussed several times on here. Most states by law can not or will not disclose that info to an individual. Privacy rights fall into place. The current online auto check companies only go back as far as 1982 I believe. I personaly did contact the Dept of Motor Vehicle's here where I live back last summer and they did disclose a bit of info to me. If you possibly knew someone who works as a vehicle inspector with the DMV, then that may be your only avenue unless someone on here knows all about your car. On a brighter note, I also own a 61. Mine was a mid year production. Vin # 4719. Let me know what you have, I am always curios. Good luck.- Top

Re: 61 vette
As Craig mentioned, this issue has been discussed numerous times on this board. Try searching the archives for keywords such as "history", "research" and "trace" and you'll probably hit paydirt.
I wouldn't give up on the DMV so easily though. Each state varies, you may be lucky and have one that is more lenient in their privacy enforcement. Then again you may be really up the creek if they're one of those states who trash the records after only a few years.
