Is it possible for heads on a 327 to become slightly loose such that oil seeps out (very slowly) between the head and the engine, but the engine still runs OK? I am trying in vain to track down an oil leak at the front passenger side of my engine and a possible candidate is the front-most part of the head on the edge where the spark plugs mount. If this is possible, can I just retorque the heads, or do I need to take them off, install new gaskets and remount? Thanks.

Re: Heads
if it leaks oil at max of 60 PSI it would sure leak compression at 150 psi. clean the engine, take it for a ride without the fan on and check for where the leak comes from. you can drive on the road at highway speed without a fan. the leak is most likely comes from the rocker covers. oil can also come from the intake block interface. yes you can retorque the heads as long as you use the proper sequence. you will have to remove the exhaust manifolds.- Top
