I am in the process of repainting the interior components of my 1965 roadster. I have painted the steering column and hub, lower inner windshield molding, dash housing, speaker grille, radio side panels, rear wheelhouse inner panels and rear storage compartments with Krylon "Semi Flat Black", which gives a low gloss sheen.
Am I correct in interpreting the TIM&JG to mean that the cluster, glove box door (in and out), console, steering column to dash bezel, and black portions of "racetrack" and armrest moldings should have a slightly higher gloss. I am thinking of using some leftover Eastwood "underhood black" for these parts, as it is a fast dry lacquer, with slightly higher gloss than the Krylon semiflat.
Anyone with an unrestored 1965 with black interior? Is there a discernable difference in the sheen levels as enumerated above (the TIM&JG refers to some parts as semigloss, and others as low gloss).
Also, does anyone suggest a product to prime the chrome plated cluster, etc. prior to spraying the topcoat for better adhesion. The original paint, which was chipped and scratched, was stripped off to provide a uniform surface, and I saw no primer underneath.
Thanks in advance.
Joe
