I have a 69 coupe that has the original Astro Vent door window glass. There are surface scratches on the driver window and I was wondering if there is a way to remove them or make them less noticeable.

I had a car with that problem...
Bought it off a used car lot, on condition they polish a white scrape an inch wide, top to bottom. The result was good enough my wife didn't even notce the resulting distortion for months. Call auto glass shops or car dealers in your area, mine was done by a guy who drives around to dealers in the area.- Top

Re: Window Glass scratches
I was able to remove minor scratches with "jeweler's rouge" I obtained from a auto glass shop. However, any scratch you can feel with your fingernail is probably to deep for this process.jeweler's rouge is a dry powder that you had a small amount of water to make a slurry and rub and rub and rub. Good luck- Top

Re: Window Glass scratches
I had good success with Eastwood's glass polishing kit. It took care of wiper scratches on the windshield and some minor scratches in the door and rear glass. The rule of thumb is if you can catch your nail on the scratch, it won't polish out. BTW -- I tried to find a professional company in my area to do polishing and had no luck...no one wants the liability in case they crack the glass.

Re: Window Glass scratches
Thanks for the pointing me in the right direction. I thought I read somewhere that it was possible. It took me some time but I found the discussion from Oct 2000. My windows are out and while I'm waiting for some parts to rebuild the requlators I'll see if I can get the scratches out of the driver window.
Thanks agiain

Re: Window Glass scratches *TL*
Glad you found it. I knew it was a while ago - time flies when you're having fun.
Just in case I didn't emphasize it enough - take your time. I spent about two hours a night on them. I have learned I make mistakes when I rush or when I am fatigued. You don't want to make mistakes with original window glass.
