'65-7 neutral safety switch for automatic

Has anyone found a reasonable source for new neutral safety switches for the '65-7 automatics? Reasonable = less than $50.

I thought maybe a console safety switch from a '67 Caprice or Camaro (or something else) might be adaptable with a change in the wiring pigtail. Has anyone tried this approach?

    Jerry -

Just compared the C2 auto shifter photos/A.I.M. illustrations with the '67 Camaro shifter, and they appear to be very similar. '67 Camaro Powerglide neutral safety/backup light switches are available as new reproductions from Rick's First Generation (best 1st-Gen Camaro parts house out there) as their #SW-12 for $28.95; (800) 359-7717.

I have done this many times with a switch available at any parts store. I actually put together an article on it but never submitted it. When I get to the shop I will get you the part number.

NAPA Ecklin # NS 6172 You will have to switch the base plate with the old one and either solder or plug into the new part. Bend the terminals over for clearence.

                Thank you both

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm going to investigate both of the suggested switches.

Wayne, I hope you do submit your switch article for publication in the Restorer. I think it would be appreciated by a lot of automatic owners.
