Anybody know why only plastic screws/rivets are used on speedo faceplates for Speedminder setups ? Mine are sheared off on my 67 cluster and I was going to replace them with normal metal screws but figured I'd better check it out first, something to do with conductivity maybe ?

Re: Speedminder plastic screws ?
Charles,I think you are on the right track with the conductivity issue and the plastic screws in the speedometer of the speedminder dash. After a rebuild of my cluster(the speedometer was registering about half the correct speed due to a dragging trip odometer)the speedwarning buzzed as soon as the harness was plugged in to the fuse block. The problem was that the speedometer face was grounding on to the back of the cluster housing. I suspect that the speedometer face should be totally isolated from the speedminder as a ground will cause the buzzer to activate.Regards.Kieran #11373- Top
