Radiator Core Support - Installed during Blackout?

Was the radiator core support installed on a midyear (67) before the black out process? Also were the grille brackets installed and should they be painted also black?

Yes as to the support, typically what you will see is the green factory base coat, then body color paint, then black paint from the blackout. many times body color is visible on the bottom edge of the support from lack of coverage.

Bill, Actually the green zinc chromate will only be found on AO Smith cars. There was a difference in the process for St louis and AO Smith. The radiator support and headlight end brackets were painted with zinc chromate and installed. The blackout process tended to be rather skimpy with the blackout at an angle from the top. Many areas like the front face of the support near the top and the lower rail received very little if any coverage and the spray was very coarse. On St Loius it seems the parts came in already painted black and didnt show any zinc chromate.
