Mike, If you are talking about the common "Golden Cad" look that is used on some corvette parts, then Casswell does have the necessary chemicals. They have a yellow chromate dip that will form a nice golden di-chromate shell over their copy cad system (which is actually a zinc plating). Have used their products for several years and have been very pleased with the results. They also have a olive drab chromate dip for coloring carb bodies and other castings. Their systems have learning curve but with a little experience you will be turning out really nice parts. You can get anywhere from a light hint of gold to a dark golden hue depending on hoy long you leave it in the dip, but the problem is you din't know what it looks like until it drys completely and by that time you can not return it to the dip as the part must go into the dip while fresh from the plating and rinse tank. After a while you will get agood feel for haw long to leave the part in and how long after the dip before you rinse the chromate.

How do you distinguish gold cad from gold irradite? The plateing I am looking for is a multi hue, almost pearlescent, type of finish.

Mike, you didn't say what year you were working on but the finish you are looking for is probably the di-chromate. It will give the multi-hued blue, green, and gold finish you are looking for. You can enhance the uneven colors by dipping and drying techniques. John

                Mike:
I agree with John's comments. I have used the Caswell system for parts as large a headlamp and wiper door actuaters and with practice, the results are excellent. The biggest problem I had was getting a good base plating of "cadmium" (really zinc) before dipping in the coloring solution. I found by dipping for short periods of time,(10 seconds), evaluating the color and then re-dipping until I achieved the depth I wanted, I was successful.
                I hope this helps.
