I have a small oil leak at the rear of my 2X4 aluminum manifold. Oil seems to be sprayed up onto the base of the rear carb, and on the manifold. I replaced the rubber grommet in the block where the PCV pipe is attached. ( 63' style-no road draft pipe ) I have installed the 2X4 manifold over the winter, and now I have the leak. The rear rubber seal under the manifold appears properly seated, and I used silicone sealer as well, when I installed the manifold. The oil gauge line is tight.Oil doesn't spray out at idle, but appears after a drive. I thought about the gasket under the distributor, but it seems fine. ( The distributor is "tach drive" style with a cable exiting out the rear, through the firewall ). Any ideas ????? Thx Phil

Re: manifold oil leak-61'
When installing an aluminum manifold care must be used in the bolt tightning sequence and in the torque used. The shop manual should give this info. There is a lot of movement in an aluminum manifold when it gets hot. If not installed properly a leak is the most likely result. Over tightning the bolts could result in cracking of the intake.- Top
