    Wiper linkage on 65

I am re-assembling the wiper linkage on my 65 (I didn't take it apart). The area in question is where the rods attach to the motor crank arm. My rods each have an oilite bushing in the end. The AIM calls out a spacer between the two rod bushings where they attach to the crank pin. I don't have any room for a spacer when the two rods ends are put on the pin. Is this correct? What is the assembly sequence at the crank pin? Left or right rod onto pin first?
Thanks for any help on this one.

    Rob:

The spacer is actually just a thin rubber cushion that insulates the rods from each other (available from LI Corvette and others). When the motor is parked, the assembly order is as follows:

Left rod (with crank at approx. 2:00)--spacer--right rod(with crank at approx. 8:00)--retainer clip.

        Addendum

The right side rod should be at 4:00, not 8:00.
The bushings are also available from the same vendor(s).
