    Pulley Alignment

RE: 67 327 L79 no air, no power anything.
My repair manual says to line up the pulleys with a straight edge. I didn't think there was any room for adjustment. I thought you just bolted them in and relied on straight pulleys. Is there room to adjust the pulleys (mainly the one that mounts on the water pump and holds the fan belt). When installed, are the pulleys absolutely free of any wobble or is a very slight wobble acceptable? I mean VERY slight. Thanks.
PS -- Thank goodness for this NCRS board.

    Re: Pulley Alignment

the water pump pulley can be adjusted by using water pump pulley shims that most speed shops sell. take a piece of 3/8" dia rod, bend a 90 degree bend, lay the rod in the pulley at the bend and use the extended part to line up the other pulleys. if the water pump pulley is out too far you can press the the pulley flange back in a press BUT you must remove the back cover of the pump so you can support the pump shaft while you press the flange.
