    Help! C1 Windshield Assembly???

I am in desperate need of some words of wisdom on how to assemble the frame on my 56 windshield. I have the gasket on all around the glass. I have the bottom stainless on. When I put the top stainless piece on I can only get one of the end pieces to line up. I end up with a 1/2" gap on the other end piece.

All these parts, except the gasket came off my car. I had the parts plated and polished. They should go back on. I am not having any luck!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

When I was re assembling mine, I had a great deal of dificulty because I had the seal upside down. I finally laid out all of the parts in an exploded fashion, and VERY carefully compared them to the exploded diagrams in the manual.

I just did mine a month ago and ended up doing it 2 or 3 times. I followed ST-12 and it worked for me (all 3 times!!!) I did use a plastid dead blow hammer on the end pillars, but I'm sure I got very lucky not to stress the glass. If I'm not mistaken, the top & bottom chanels and trim go on pre assembled with careful measurements to line them up with-in themselves and to the windshield, then tie ends go in from the top and slide in on the bottom. The hammer was used to persuade the tops to line up with the chanel holes. Good luck!!!

A professional told me to spray the rubber with Windex to make it slippery enough to work. You must be very careful, however, because I cracked the first one and wasted $150.
