Replacing 66 temp gage

Can the mid year dash be unscrewed and drop down enough to replace the temp gage?,or will I have to drop the steering column? What is the easiest way? Thanks in advance. Dean

It can be done, but it is not all that easy. It must be moved forward enough to remove the screws and wires etc. and the two guage set removed as a unit.

When I dropped my cluster, I made up some 6" x 1/4 20 "extenders". These screw in in place of the cluster mounting screws. If this job is possible (anything is of course possible but I mean with reasonable patience and adult sized hands) this might be a help.
