68 Steering Column

Hello All--

Looking at the steering column on my '68 it appears to not be a telescoping version. However, when I look through the AIM, there are several pictures depicting telescoping steerign columns. Was this a stock item or was it available as an option in 1968? If so, where could I obtain the necessary parts to convert mine to a telescoping column? Thanks!

I have a question for you, could you send me an e-mail with your 68 build date. If it is close to mine October 1967, I would like to ask you some questions about your door panels.

It is easy, just plan on replacing almost everything between the horn button and the steering box.

That's EXACTLY how it is. The only way to "convert" a 68 (or any other Corvette, for that matter) from a standard steering column to a telescopic (65-68) or tilt-telescopic (69-79) is to replace the entire steeing column.

Making matters worse, the 68 Corvette telescopic steering column is unique to 68 Corvettes. So, you have to obtain a used column out of a 68 to perform the conversion on your car.
