    Frame repair

I am getting ready to cut my frame apart on my 65 to replace the back 23" of the side rails and also the third cross member. I have the frame upside down and tacked to two 4" I beams. I wasn't to worried about doing this till I read a few threads in the archives so I thought I'd better stop and have a nother Leinenkugel's and ask a questions or to first.
    1. How critical are the measurements on alignment, are we talking 32nds or are we talking thousnads?
    2. Would it be better to torch around the the kick-up rails and grind off the old weld or just go at it with the grinder with a cutting blade?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Frame repair

Hello, I have read many articles about frame rebuilding. They usually weld some metal pieces along the crossmembers to reinforce the chassis previous to cut anything. The idea is to avoid any movement when a section is removed. They usually cut very straight in the rails.

I was able to see in Argentina the repairing of a 72 frame. They builded a subframe where the vette frame was bolted on, then cut in several places (one at a time and repaired with fresh section), later they flattened the welds, and finish to an almost invisible repairing.

That was my experience, Roberto, NCRS #30019, RMC
